First of all, yes, there is a difference.
The former has nerd interest like school, computers, nerd stuffs but is athletic and can pwn bullies if they mess with them.
The latter has jock interest like sports and other jock stuffs I don't know about. They also have great analytical skills, good memory and can multitask.
So, which of the 2 would you prefer?

I'd much like to be a mary sue =P
But yeah.. the only difference is the social situation they're in. Which, means little to none to me.

I've already said the difference. Don't you know how to read?

Em, no, there is actually no difference

All you've stated as the differences is "Party a with an interest in [list of things associated with Party b], or Party b with an interest in [list of things associated with Party a]"

Which is just two sides to the same coin
So Roach was right, it's a mary sue or a mary sue

the skills are the same but the totality of the human being is not.
Is a spoon used for shoveling and a shovel used for eating the same?

Now your arguement is basically, "Karab, are you not different from Roach, are you not two different people?"

The only difference is their interests which do not really matter in the real world since both will become successful anyway.

For me, I don't care whichever path I choose since I will be successful anyway.

This question really just comes down to what you're interested in. I personally like nerdy stuff, so I would go with the athletic nerd. A person who likes sports more is going to choose the intelligent jock.

Basically the stressed dilemma guy

If your both, you have a hard choice picking whether to hang with your jock friends or nerd friends. And you get stressed via peer pressure if you hang out with the other.

And the fact both of your interests collide, you will get stressed if you do not do one of them.

But however, there is a 25% chance where you can manage this and you become the next Mr "Perfect".

What if I like doing and enjoy both things?

It makes me, once again, a mary sue.

No one I knew who was both athletic and 'nerdy' was like this at all.

There are a lot of Athletic Nerds. If you enroll yourself on programming-related courses like Computer Science, you'd meet a lot of them.
As for Intelligent Jock, I doubt there aren't any.
