So, English Vanguard came out at the end of last year, second and sixth sets (English release timetable is weird) coming next month, just wondering if anyone else played, and what decks they run? Especially anyone in and/or around Canberra, cause like, I've already won the first regional tournament and played against the other top players here, looking for more people who can put up a good game and all.

So, I run OTT splashed with a bit of Kagero to replace the cards I haven't got (Still need 2xMocha, 1xCocoa, 3xChocolat and 2x Libra to finish the deck as pure OTT) plus I have a secondary deck which is Kagero/Nubatama, since Nuba has no triggers for a while and can't make a deck from them yet. My OTT is the deck that won the tournament, the Kage/Nuba is more for fun.

So yeah guys, post decklists if you want, or just builds and how you've gone in the game so far. If you don't play but know a local store that sells it, I'd suggest buying some, the game is only just starting out and now is the best time to get into a card game, and it's a really simple and fun game that is highly likely to take off once sets start coming out more regularly.

I'll put up decklists once I finish my decks I think, can probably do Kage/Nuba now, will look over and see what it's missing.

Sounds interesting. I watched the first episode of the anime in Japanese when it came out, but I never really pursued it. IF I ever get a job I might consider buying some cards.

Ya, I'm looking into getting a job at my local gaming store, helped them out at Cancon, so should be in with a good shot, then discount on the crazy amounts of money I would totally spend on Vanguard when set 2 comes out (and before then because still need so many double rares and a triple rare v.v)

I would try it but the problem is I don't have anyone to play against. :sad :sad :sad

I guess I'm sticking to Duel Monsters for now though it's also hard to find someone to play against cause majority of the people play Magic the Gathering. :push :unsure :push

Maybe I'll buy two decks for my sister and me and I'll just play with her. :noworry :laugh :noworry

Anyway any tips on building a deck? Even just the most basic info would be appreciated. Thanks. :laugh :laugh :laugh

Mhm, well if you're to buy 2 decks, one would assume you'd get one of each, as there is two decks out at the moment, Blaster Blade and Draconic Overlord.

Blaster Blade is a Royal Paladin deck, so when you buy boosters you will be looking for support for them. The main things you will want to get your hands on early are Shield Maiden Isoltx3, Barcgalx1, Blaster Bladex3 and as many Alfred, King of Knights as you can possibly get (he's been hard to get down here, only 6 have been pulled in the entire territory, but Melbourne has pulled heaps, so you may get lucky). Your starting triggers are good, but as soon as possible you want to swap in 4 of Future Knight Llew, as his effect will help you Superior Ride your Blaster Blade (terms will make sense when you play). If you want to go with 4 criticals and drop all your Eponas for Llews, up to you, but my friend who plays the top RP deck in the ACT runs 4 Llew 2 Epona, because criticals can win the game easily. Up to you in the end, because you have to lose something to.

After you get Barcgal, the extra Blaster Blades, Isolt and Alfreds, your focus should be on finding the other RP support cards, like Demon Slaying Knight Lohengrin, who you want 1 or 2 of, and you might even want to look into adding a third Solitary Knight, Gancelot, to help you get those Blaster Blades out early. From then on just look for whatever RP you can find and put whatever suits your play style into your deck.

The other starting deck is Kagero with Draconic Overlord, so your first goal is to find Lizard Soldier, Conroe, as he is your basic starting vanguard, like Barcgal, so you'll only need one of him. For support, you'll be looking for Wyvern Guard, Barrix3 and Embodiment of Spear, Tahrx4, again, to replace or work alongside your current criticals. Kagero is a very offensive heavy deck, so extra critical triggers may work in your favour more for Kagero then it does for RP. The starting Kagero deck is full of basically most of what you need, so once you find a Vortex Dragon or two, you'll be set to play high level games.

For advancing your deck, you want to find Dragon Knight, Alephx4 and Embodiment of Victory, Alephx3. They are the best Superior Ride out at the moment, letting you get to Grade 3 on your second turn, so keep an eye out for them. You might want to get some Dragon Monk Gojo for hand control, but he's not needed and most people aren't too fussed. Until set 2 comes out, that's really all you need to do for Kagero, and you can get a very powerful and viable deck very quickly out of them.

Thanks for all the info Nori.

Just building the deck sounds like fun. Now time to explain all of this this to my little sister later so she can build her own deck. :push :laugh :push

Mhm, np. And then of course in all the boosters you buy that don't have the Kagero or Royal Paladin stuff you need for your decks, you can also look into starting to make an Oracle Think Tank (My deck) or Nova Grapplers deck. There is six other clans present in the first set (Nubatama, Tachikaze, Granblue, Megacolony, Spike Brothers and Dark Irregulars) but none of them have any triggers, so the best you can do is splash them into one of the main four clans and make a hybrid deck. It works well if you're lucky, otherwise it can kinda suck.
