This is a continuation of the poem "The Day the Moon Cried."
Also inspired by the words of one of my favorite artist Otep "Art Saves."
by Maria Luna
A girl sleeps in the corner
A man slowly comes near her
Pointing a gun at her temple
And it was just that simple
Waking from the smell of lead
She looks at the gun on her head
You are here once again
She mutters with disdain
She stands like a puppet
Trying to forget the moment
Walking slowly to his car
She touches her past scars
She closes her eyes
Believing all of it was a lie
Bearing the pain and shame
She tries to not go insane
Remembering the gift of love
Praying to the moon above
Pretending it was alright
To not see a shred of light
She wonders if death was more painful
If her life was even meaningful
Why accept this shame
When a bullet would end this pain
Seventeen minutes later
She's thrown back to the gutter
Clean up for the next time
His voice ringing like a chime
She's alone once more
Her brain broken to the core
Why was she afraid of dying
When her life meant nothing
Crying and retrieving her mind
She wonders why the world was unkind
These words escape her lips
I don't want another lunar eclipse
