I got two numbers this time. I'll refrain from sharing how I got them to save myself the trouble of looking stupid.

One. 652565
Two. 541454

I'm thinking maybe some hexdecimal is involved?

ie, four verses of four lines each = 16

hex is mentioned, followed by spell, which rhymes with decimal (when you consider the approriate pause)

Also, the answere is supposed to come in 6 figures, so maybe it's supposed to be a colour? (ie ffffff is white in hexdecimal)

Then there's the fact that none of the acrostics hit above f alphabetically, the highest hex letter

You guys got really close so far. I couldn't give you a hint on the post I wanted to, but I can say that the theories presented are REALLY close to the answer.

Luna, you were the one that got the closest to the answer, but it's still not quite correct. Take another look into the poem and I'm sure you'll come out with something.

As Bughead firstly stated, one of the hints was hidden indeed on the "hex" part, but he mistook the intention of the "Eaten Computer". Maybe thinking about it with the new information you'll have will get you to something. The group of answers should be cohese and form a quite fittingly picture once every piece shows its true nature.

I redid my thinking but ran into different ways and got different answers. This time I won't waste you time with my dribbling as most of it turned out to be wrong last time.

1. 108600
2. 311715

I won't give my other answers as I believe it may be unfair to give multiple answers at once.

Ah, my friend, wrong answers are just wrong on their essence but not on their intention. As a matter of fact, you left great hinges for people to cling on, so don't think that ill of yourself by stating it was plain wrong. =]

Well, about the answers, I need to say one of them made my blood cold (for reasons I won't explain) but neither of them are exactly right. Great tries, though.

Probably wrong, but it seems like the kind of thing you'd do

Seeing as the first two answers were incorrect I'll see if this one is correct.

110740

Also, was it a good or bad thing that your blood went cold?

Interesting and surely something I'd do if I could control the answer that much, but no, it's not the correct one. xD

No, it's not that one. And it's a good thing that my blood went cold, that means somehow you're close to the answer, even if not on the conventional means. xD

Well I might as well give my last answers before retrying this puzzle.

1. 111094
2. 110838

Also is asking for which answer made your blood cold too much of a hint?

Neither of these are correct. The answer that made my blood run cold was "108600". xD

Really I was close?

Hmmm. As of now I'm thinking it might have something to do with hexidecimal and ASCII. I'll give it some more thought and get back to you.

Edit: 186472?

Exactly. That is indeed correct.
Great shot, Luna. The problem is solved. You can expect a detailed breakdown of the solution once I finish my current project. =]

EDIT: Okay, here's the breakdown of everything.

The answer was indeed completely related to Hexadecimal System. There were two items throughout the text that showed this trend: the first one was, as Bughead noticed, the "hex" word - which had two meanings as I presented it. The second one and that probably went unnoticed, was the "Eaten Computer". Upon dealing with computers, a trend appears - we usually have the hyphenation of the letter "E", meaning "electronical". So, we currently have e-mails, e-books and other words that fall inside this parameter. If we were to do the same with "eaten", we'd get "e-aten", or, as you could also read, "E-A Ten". Now, that would show we're looking for a system that's usually explored on electronics on which A is equivalent to Ten, which is Hexadecimal.

The poem shows also that you needed to convert the beginnings (of each line) to numbers (since we face, as stated, "arithmetic disguised as plain words"). However, the order does matter - you needed to convert EACH and every word to the decimal system and THEN add the results, as expressed on the following lines:

"Disrupt your own pace" - that showed you each and every stanza should be broken, converted to the new reality before you moved on to the next one. This, by itself, was a display of the order of operations one should follow.

"Disturb my mind, make it shatter, scatter!" - this showed that, upon writing the poem, the answer (a product of my mind) was shattered and THEN scattered, not the other way around. In order to discover the solution, one would need to follow the exact opposite way (by firstly joining the pieces to a common point and THEN putting them together).

With that discovered, the path of what you needed to do was clear... get the words FEED, DEAD, FACE and DEAD again, convert them to the decimal base and then sum them up. This would give you the number 186.472, as expressed by Luna.
