War of Ninja is a turn based strategy game based off of the other arena games "Naruto-Arena" and "Soul-Arena" where you take an arranged team of 3 characters to do battle against your opponent's team of 3 characters. However, the major differences between the older games and WoN are 3 things:

1)Each character has their own set of health points instead of the standard 100 from the other arena games.

2)AI and Boss battles

3)Each character is now allowed to hold an item skill, which can be bought from the in game shops after you complete missions and gain gold and new characters. All of the items are different and by the time you finish the game, you will have enough gold to buy every item that there currently is available. Some items, such as the Guard of the Warbringer that you receive at the end of the game, you unlock from defeating bosses instead of buying them with gold.

This inclusion of items is very well welcomed to me,personally, and it makes me eager to see what future items will be available. Items can help give you that extra "oomph" in a team when you need to cover the weakness of a character yet none of your other team characters can fulfill that duty (such as putting the battle armor on a low health character).Along with this, you now have the ability to make a squad. In short, it's just a system that remembers what teams you want to save instead of having to remember them all and constantly switch the characters out.

Speaking of boss battles, this is another highlight in WoN that separates itself from the other arenas. Boss battles help make this seemingly simple flash game that much more "fancy", professional, and also just plain rewarding. Where the past arena games are often the same (keep winning to finish a mission, level up,and repeat this process) War of Ninja has a story mode, engaging you into the game more and giving you a feel of purpose to keep playing. Not to mention the boss battles add in that extra challenge. If the boss battles become too challenging, then paying a visit to the guides section of the WoN forums will help you out. Either way, this new inclusion was an amazing idea, and I can't wait to see what the future boss battles will be like.

Another thing worthy of noting about War of Ninja is its art style. Mostly every single graphic has been newly created from a plethora of artists, so this game is 100% original and not just a franchised game. Seeing this creativity and originality makes the future of WoN almost limitless. Though, for some characters it definitely seems like inspiration has been taken from "Naruto" and other series. For example, at the beginning when you break out of jail, a "Kakashi-like" character greets you, and the Kage Shoji character reminds me of "Naruto's" Shikamaru. Is this a bad thing and take away any originality? Not really. It's actually kinda cool to see some slight references to our beloved series. It's like video game easter eggs where, for example, you can find a Mario reference in a Zelda game. You get a nice feeling in your gut and a smile comes to your face. Oh, and this is a shout out for the WoN artists: Great work!

Other things to note about WoN are the new achievement system and title system that have been implemented.

The achievement system has done wonders for this game. Not only does it increase competition and make the game more enjoyable, but it also prolongs your gaming experience. For gamers like me who try to get every single achievement in a game before letting it go, this system will make you want to come back and keep playing, just so you can earn a few more points that day so you can gloat to everyone else about how amazing you are and whatnot. Coinciding with this system is the custom title system, where you can personally take a pre supplied list of front, back and middle titles to personalize your gaming experience even more. I am also very fond of this. I'm tired of having a laid out title list for me like "Okay, level 1 you are Academy Student, level 6 you are a Genin, etc". This title system now lets you stand out more as well as shows off some of your awesome achievements.

WoN also has 4 different types of ladders at the current moment:
-Achievement Ladder: Made specific for all those over achievers out there
-Points Ladder: Your traditional exp gaining ladder
-Streak Ladder: A highly competitive ladder where stakes are high. In the end, one player will lose their streak and will be knocked back down the ladder. However, wins and losses do not affect your ratio in this game mode, which eases tension for the players that love to streak yet reset all the time when they lose a game.
-Clan Ladder: A ladder system to find out who the best clans are.

With War of Ninja being a new game, obviously there will be balance problems early on. However, it seems that the administrators are highly active and take a lot of support from the community to make decisions in regards to the balance. I have a good feeling the balance will be better as more people unlock characters and more characters are implemented. I have high hopes for this game.

A nice addition to the forum has been the "Contribution system". Basically, you aren't known for your post count anymore. This system encourages well thought out posts to encourage others to "thumb up" these said posts. Even non frequent posters can get a high contribution number if their posts are worth noting. I've noticed that guide makers are getting the recognition they deserve now for their guides due to this system as well. Basically,it makes it more rewarding to help others instead of going around spamming the place up for the sake of getting a higher post count. Contribution points have also been incorporated into the achievement system.

All and all, I'm very fond of War of Ninja and can't wait to see its future. Compared to the other arenas I find this one standing out most, the reasons being a mix of this game having a more "fresh" feeling as well as a more unique experience.

I, personally, give War of Ninja a 9/10 right now.
