2nd I personally like the characters and items but I do love thE ITEMS IN REGION 1

Personally, I prefer the first region. I prefer it a lot, at least story-wise.

The reason i don't like the second region that much is the bosses. Yeah, the bosses. I agree on the point that they're really fun to battle against, with all that making-up-a-plan thing, but their effect on the story is that all villages are set up around a certain pattern, to finally end up in a boss fight.

The Shishi, Honoo and Kusa missions are all basically set up like this:

Arrive - Fight the Kozan - Interlude - Fight the Kozan some more - Interlude - Big battle between Shishi/Kusa/Honoo and Kozan - Fight against enemy commander - End.

Kozan village is a bit different, and that's good. If the other villages had had a different structure, i might not have made such a quick decision.

The villages of Hanto region, on the other hand, had imaginative stories. For example, we have the revealing of Toge's plot in Aoiro, the attack from Toge and Yuudai's appointment as Daimyo in Niiro, helping the Senboku and saving Amaya in Kage and finally Jinsei's training of Amaya in Senboku.

Then, in Demon's Lair, we have ONE big battle followed by a boss fight, instead of four. I really think the story of the 1st region is more thought through and fun to read.

So if my vote counts for anything i think that the third region should not have bosses in each village, because it inevitably points all the stories the same way.

Its basically in set pieces on how the narrative goes. The first region is like an introductory to ninja clans, Captain and his crew's escape, as well as the first Demon Lord's plot. What region 1 excels is how Toge basically wants to control the region through inner conflict of each ninja clan basically making Aoiro and Niiro wage war with each other while he takes control of Amaya's potential. And under the shadows, Eien is trying to gain the faith of the Hebi.

As for the second region, much of the pacing is left for an all-out invasion on one of the biggest and strongest ninja clans, the Kozans, and basically gaining the trust of each ninja clan to avoid such devastating wars.

I prefer the first region more, it seems more thought out yet more simple then the second plus the characters are way more bad ass.
