I think there should be a section for actual debates, like there is in Soul Boards. I enjoy discussing things and I'm sure others do too. It can go in the other interests section and not count for PC and thumbing, but I think we should have it anyways. It's fun to see what other people think about issues in the real world today.

I would like this, although I think part of the reason it may not be added is because we have such a small member base, there probably won't be alot of people using it all that much.
In addition to that, apparently most forum-goers think that "debate" Is a fancy word for "Flame the hell out of anyone who doesn't agree with you." In the end, it makes the mod's job harder, and nothing will really get discussed all that much.

Yeah, some people do flame, but it's even fun to discuss with flamers sometimes. I've had some fun with flamers before. They try to push their views on you, and then you tear their position apart because they have absolutely no case for themselves. It's funny to see what people like that come up with to say to you.

It's fun from your end, not fun from the staff's end to deal with them. If we did have a debate section, it'd need to be strictly regulated, to try and avoid allowing idiots to flame people. It is, however, an idea I don't mind if we can do that, so perchance I'll work on talking with the rest of the staff about building a set of section rules for it.

I'd be happy to collaborate with you in any way if you need some extra help with it. I'd love to see this section get made, so I'll offer you any help I can.

But remember Nori, the staff serves for just that reason. You can't decide to leave out a section just because it's more work for staff. Flame is guaranteed to happen and will be high chances of it happening so you make bigger penalties. Just double the flame points and maybe ban members from posting there if they can't control themselves. If they post there during their ban time then it counts as spam. Or make it possible to ban from a specific section if not already possible.

As for the posted idea... I think it's a nice idea. I would ban religious debates though.

Actually, yes, we can just decide to leave it out, because debates can be set up in the misc section if you really want them, but having a dedicated area is just going to act as a giant troll magnet. Now, sure, it's our job to deal with trolls and flamers, but it's also our job to take precautions to ensure there is a minimal amount of things on the site to incite them.

Now, yes, we could increase the penalities for certain rule breaches in that section, or we could just not make it and never have the issue come up. It is something we may discuss, until then it's out of your hands. Should have closed this before, but was expecting useful input. Didn't get any, so it's closed now. Watch your attitude in future Tsu, and don't question me when I make a decision.
