Of course, Kirk Hammet is one of the bests! Also like Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page...
A guitarist that ONLY have speed is not a great guitarist. But Kirk and the others make a lot of amazing songs and melodies! Thats why they're the bests!
