Chat System:
Oh chat system, how we've been wanting you for so long. And you finally came just under a month ago. How is the chat system? It needs a few tweeks here and there, but overall it's very solid. The tweeks that I am referring to are:
1)An ability to make the windows larger/smaller (for those who don't want to miss a second of chat while in game)
2)An ability to add people on chat directly to your friends list
Yes, these are the only gripes I have right now about the chat system. Overall, I give the chat system add-on an 8/10 as it currently stands.
The Market, Hebi Clan, and Token System:
The Market and Tokens:
The April 8th update brought the market, Hebi clan, and a new type of currency to the game. This new currency is the token, which you earn through completing missions and laddering. Currently the limits on tokens are:
275 tokens for completing the original storyline and its missions (the first 2 regions)
40 tokens per 24 hours on both ladders (combined)
Personally, I found this token system quite attractive from the very start. It pretty much gave the message, "If you want more content for this game, then you have to play it." Though I'm sure new future regions will be free unlocks, special side villages like the Hebi and upcoming Seishin and boss characters, like the recently released Kozan Hai, will cost some tokens. It also seems like upon the week of release, villages will get a 20% off discount, bringing their costs from 400 tokens to 320 tokens. Bosses don't seem to have a discount and appear to have a steady cost of 150 tokens.
The only suggestions I have for the new token system is for national holidays, such as Christmas, to give some kind of discount in the market (or give the ability to score some extra tokens via ladder). It'd be a nice gift for the holidays. The other suggestion I have is that over time, special items and possibly even regular characters get added to the market to make it a lot more full.
Overall I give the market and tokens system an 8.5/10.
The Hebi Clan
The Hebi clan was the first item available in the market. On launch it was given a 20% discount, making it 320 tokens instead of what seems to be the usual 400 for new villages. This DLC gave 3 new characters, 8 new missions, and a nice clan item.
The missions themselves were quite the challenge. It was nice to see some harder missions. It made you feel like you were getting your tokens' worth. However, it was easy to tell that many people got frustrated at how hard the missions were so fast. Hopefully this doesn't turn off the less skilled players. The first character you get in the village is Jatai, a support character focused on disrupting. She has an energy drain, affliction damage, and a 2 turn stun.
Ikuchi is heavily focused on poison affliction. He has a nice spike move that does require a poison affliction to be on an enemy to be able to use the skill. Though this can potentially slow him down, he makes a great combo with the poison darts item. Not to mention his affliction from his standard attack can stack.
Nozuchi is my personal favorite. He has a protector which transforms into a nice AoE skill when used, a counter, and a skill that stuns an enemy and instantly kills them in 3 turns. Though he does have quite high costs for his skills, he is very lethal in the hands of a skilled player.
The clan item grants a protector of 15 and gives any enemy that uses a melee skill on that ally a poison affliction of 15 damage for 2 turns that can renew. A very useful item to be honest, even if it is just used for the protector, the item costs no energy to use.
I give the Hebi clan DLC a 9.5/10.
Kozan Hai:
The latest and final update is Kozan Hai. Kozan Hai brought a new type of skill to the game, a damage limiter. Basically all of 1 type of damage used on an ally is reduced to a certain max amount. Basically, if an enemy used 60 damage worth of melee skills on an ally with Crystal Touch on them, then all of the damage would do 20 instead of 60. This is good against spike teams, however, since the skill is visible, it's very hard to make an opponent fall for it. He has a similar skill with the same effects that is usable against ranged opponents as well.
Hai also has an AoE that gets increased damage from constant uses of his defensive skills and has a heal that removes poison afflictions, a nice counter to the recently released Hebi clan.
Though Kozan Hai seems like a decent support character, he is very lacking in many fields. As I stated early, his damage limiter skills are visible, making them kinda useless in a way. His offense is okay, especially for a collaboration character, however, with his friendly skills lacking it brings him down as a whole. His heal seems to be his only good skill, but even that skill can use a slight buff.
Overall, I found Hai to be quite disappointing. I give him a 4/10.
