Personally? I won't watch the movies. Sure, the movies are indeed good. However, they do not even come CLOSE to how great the books are.

I felt rather betrayed every time I watched Harry Potter. Thus, when I watched the 6th one, I've decided to never watch Harry Potter anymore.

Adding up, dividing a movie within 2 parts is just a way of gaining more money, which I find rather greedy. Sure, people will say "book 7 is enormous, there isn't a way on which they'd be able to put it inside Harry Potter within a movie". That, my friend, is false. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At The End of The World (was that it?) had MORE than 200 minutes (check that again - more than 3 WHOLE HOURS) and was still a blockbuster. Harry Potter, pts. 1 and 2 would probably add to more than 4 hours, but I've seen movies that large with intermissions - the idea is STILL tangible.

Actually, if you have seen Part 1, you'd have known why it needed the 2 parter. The book demands the loneliness and conflict between the three, and rushing such scenes of despair would make the game schizophrenic and lose the impact that the book gives. To me that watched both 2 parts of Deathly Hallows, I have seen no filler or dragging parts.

Although to be honest, I doubt Breaking Dawn needs 2 parts. So them doing the same tactics is not to my favor in this debate.

I like that they split the last movie to two. If not for the plot/necessity, then for the fans. We at least get 1 movie more than we anticipated.

Plus I love both movies. I love them!

Also, Taylor, Hasty Generalization. :laugh
Just because the 6th movie wasn't good doesn't mean every other movie is.
The 5th and 6th movies were the worst IMO.
The parts 1 and 2 of the seventh movie are the best.

IMO 3rd movie was worse. It was so schizophrenic that it's hard to tell what just happened and hard to follow.

Well, I'm biased on the 3rd book. Out of all 7 books, it was the one I liked the most, so I can't say whether or not he movie was good... :unsure

It's just that, the first two books were "Philosopher's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets." Then the third was "Prisoner of Azkaban." I was thinking, "boring." The first two were magical things, but the third was just a person like any other wizard?

So I guess with my very low expectation, the catharsis was great when I saw it didn't suck at all. :laugh

It's not a Hasty Generalization. I've told I decided to stop watching Harry Potter ON the 6th Movie. Notice there isn't a mention I stopped watching Harry Potter BECAUSE of the 6th Movie.

Actually, each and every movie was an utter disappointment to me, with the possible exception of the first one, due to my small age AND the fact I hadn't read the book. Since I've taken enough examples to a limited group (more than 50% of it, if you regard relative sizes as well), this Generalization does not become a Hasty one.

The thing is, very few movies ever live up to the books they're based on. In comparison to his books, Stephen King movies suck. That's not to say they aren't good, but when compared to the books...

Anyways, I loved both parts of the seventh movie. The sixth though, I hated that one. It focused so much on romance that they had to cut out the final battle at Hogwarts, where Bill was bitten by Grayback. I was looking forward to the part for the whole movie, and then it never came.

Ah, I thought you watched only 1 movie.
Indeed, the generalization isn't rushed at all.
I agree, Rurudo. The 6th was just crap. Even Dumbledore wielding fire against the Inferi in the cave didn't impress me. >_>;;

But for the 7th and 8th movies, they are well above the first 6. However, of course as every book-based movie must, they must also deviate from the books a little, to add a little spice to what would otherwise be a predictable movie. It doesn't remove awesomeness from it though.

I'm a bit sad the series has ended, really.

I have not seen it yet, but it's already out, so I'm going to go to the cinema with my friends and watch it. ^.^ I've already seen part 1, it was epic. I'm looking forward to seeing that guy die! :laugh

I suggest you don't. I had a major "That's it?!" moment when it happened.

Here's how I would rank the 8 movies of Harry Potter:
Worst: HP2 = Chamber of Secrets
2nd worst: HP1 = Sorcerer's Stone
6th: HP4 = Goblet of Fire
5th: HP7.1 = Deathly Hollows part 1
Great: HP5 = Order of the Phoenix
Awesome: HP3 = Prisoner of Askaban
Better: HP6 = Half Blood Prince
Best: HP7.2 = Deathly Hollows part 2
